Valid Referrals

To ensure clients can access psychological support seamlessly under the Better Access initiative, referrals should include the following information:

  • Patient details – full name, date of birth, and residential address.

  • Number of sessions requested – up to six sessions per referral. Patients can access up to 10 Medicare-rebated sessions per calendar year, typically over two referrals (an initial 6 + a subsequent 4).

  • Confirmation that a Mental Health Treatment Plan, or psychiatrist assessment/management plan has been completed.

  • A request for the provision of psychological treatment.

  • An eligible diagnosis or presenting symptoms, a description of the patient's symptoms or diagnosis.

  • Your signature and date, along with either your practice address or provider number.

  • Referrals remain valid for the number of sessions specified and do not expire within the calendar year.

We Take Care of the Rest!

Once a client has booked an initial appointment and is using a MHCP, you will receive concise, professional reports throughout treatment, allowing you to track patient progress and adjust care plans with confidence.
